What does Alert on incorrect material picking do?
When you're completing a work order on a manufacturing order, Digit checks whether the picked quantities match what the order calls for.
If materials are under-picked or over-picked, you'll see an Incorrect material picking alert every time you try to complete that work order.
From there, you can choose Cancel to go back and correct the picks, or Continue to complete the work order anyway and address the discrepancy later.
What does Automatically reserve manufacturing output for linked SO lines do?
When a manufacturing order is linked to a sales order line, turning this on automatically allocates the finished output to that sales order line the moment it's produced, so the quantity is earmarked for that order instead of landing as unassigned inventory.
What does Automatically generate lot numbers do?
When this is on, Digit assigns a lot number to your output automatically as soon as production is completed, using a YYYY-MM-MO format (where MO is the manufacturing order number).
Whether that number can be changed afterward depends on Prevent manual lot number entry: with that setting off, you can still manually edit or enter a lot number. With it on, the auto-generated number is locked.
What does Prevent manual lot number entry do?
Turning this on greys out the lot number field completely. It becomes non-editable — clicking it has no effect — so every lot number has to come from Digit's automatic generation.
ℹ️ Note: These two settings work together. Automatically generate lot numbers assigns the number; Prevent manual lot number entry decides whether that number can be manually overridden.
What does Use backflush inventory do?
Normally, producing a work order means manually picking raw materials — scanning labels, entering quantities, and so on. With backflush inventory on, logging output automatically picks and consumes the proportional raw materials based on the item's bill of materials, using FIFO (oldest labels first). No manual picking required,
A few things to keep in mind:
You don't have to produce the full quantity at once — backflush only consumes materials for whatever amount you produce, and updates as you go.
If there isn't enough material available, Digit blocks production and shows what's missing, with a Buy button to quickly create a purchase order when the item has a preferred vendor.
For items with nested bills of materials, you must complete each child manufacturing order before you can produce the parent.
