Shipping: Operation Defaults

Learn what the Shipping setting in Operations defaults does and how it protects your sales orders from being overpicked.

What does Prevent overshipping do?

When you turn on Prevent overshipping, you can't pick more of an item than a sales order line calls for. The limit is enforced at the picking step, before the order reaches packing or shipping.

If you try to pick more than the ordered quantity, you'll see a Picked too much message informing you that the picked quantity can't exceed the sales order quantity.

ℹ️ Note: Because packing can only include what's already been picked, this setting stops an overship before it ever reaches the shipping step.

Your sales orders are protected from overshipping

With Prevent overshipping turned on, your team can pick with confidence, knowing the system will catch any quantity that exceeds what the customer ordered.
