In this video, I demonstrate how to assign lot numbers to inventory during the manufacturing process. I walk you through creating a manufacturing order, selecting a product, and entering the lot number, as well as how this information carries over to the work order. I also showcase a scenario with a no packing type to highlight the differences in the interface. Please pay attention to the steps outlined, as they are crucial for accurately managing inventory. Let me know if you have any questions or need further clarification on the process!

So first we're going to create, A new manufacturing order, and I'm going to select an example product here, and when you're on the create manufacturing order screen, what you can do is right here, there's a lot number option.
0:31
So we can enter in, uh, whatever our lot number is going to be in advance, and we can continue to fill out, uh, finish creating our manufacturing order, uh, filling out and choosing the options as needed, and we can create that manufacturing order.
0:48
Now I'm going to skip a few steps here and just go down to our work order where we're going to create our first output here, and you can see it'll also show you again the lot number that was assigned to the manufacturing order.
1:04
And now as soon as I add a quantity to our container, I can check that label. This is our new inventory, and I can come down and see that it has correctly inherited the order.
1:17
I'll go out and really quick and make a manufacturing order of a no packing type, just so you can see the difference.
1:27
So we're going to go back to manufacturing orders. Create manufacturing order. We'll use the same item here. And now for packaging type, I'm just going to select no packing.
1:38
I'm going to give it a lot number. I'm going to say Our target quantity is five. Create this manufacturing order.
1:47
Just like before, I'm going to jump down to the final work order, assuming all the other steps have been completed.
1:52
And now the interface is a little bit different. You can see the lot number from the manufacturing order is still repeated up here at the top, and in the last section here, where you fill out the information that will apply to this inventory specifically, you can see that the lot number has been pulled
2:09
through. I'm going to go ahead and, uh, select an item type here. I'm going to go ahead and add and print that label.
2:17
And we can check again on the label here that the lot number has come from the manufacturing order onto this inventory.
2:31
So this makes it really easy to, uh, to have an admin or a manager assign the lot number when the manufacturing order is created and operators don't have to memorize what it is or enter it in repeatedly.
2:45
Now it will just already be there as they are producing inventory from that manufacturing order. Thank you.
