How to Track Multiple Shipments Per Purchase Order With Receiving Tickets in Digit
This video walks through creating receiving tickets and receiving items against multiple shipments on a single purchase order.
What are receiving tickets?
A single purchase order can arrive in multiple shipments. Receiving tickets let you track each shipment separately, so quantities from one delivery never mix with another. Each ticket keeps its own items, quantities, notes, files, and custom fields.
Create a receiving ticket from a purchase order
Toggle Receiving mode on to see the Receiving tickets column in the items table, which lists any tickets already linked to this PO.
Open the purchase order.
Click Receive to open the Choose a receiving ticket modal.
Select New receiving ticket from the dropdown, then click Next.
Review the ticket details
Digit takes you to the new ticket, where a Details panel on the right shows information scoped only to this ticket
PO number
Created: when the ticket was created
Completed: when it was completed
Receive profiles: the people in your organization who worked on it.
You can also add custom fields, files, and internal notes here. Anything you add stays tied to this ticket alone.
Receive items against the ticket
Click Accept next to an item.
Confirm the Quantity, Location, and Bin in the Receive items modal.
Click Save or Save & Print.
The progress bar in the items table updates as items come in.
Finish a receiving ticket
If a shipment is complete but you're expecting more later, click Finish receiving to close out the ticket. The purchase order stays open and ready for the next shipment.
Create a ticket for the next shipment
Go back to the purchase order and click Receive again.
In the Choose a receiving ticket modal, select New receiving ticket.
đDigit Tip: The new ticket carries over shipping details from the previous one automatically. You can have multiple tickets in progress on the same PO at the same time, each tracking its own quantities.
Create a ticket from the Receiving page
You can also start a receiving ticket without opening the purchase order first.
Go to the Receiving page.
Find the Receiving # column, then click the + button on the purchase order's row.
đDigit Tip: If a purchase order has more than two receiving tickets, the table shows the first two, with the rest grouped under a small "+1" count.
View all receiving tickets in one place
To see every receiving ticket across all your purchase orders, click the Receiving tickets tab.
It lists each ticket's status, the purchase order it belongs to, the vendor, and the destination, so you can track exactly what's been received and what's still in progress, ticket by ticket.
Your shipments are now tracked ticket by ticket
Each shipment against a purchase order now has its own record, quantities, and history, keeping receiving accurate even when deliveries arrive on different days.
