Video Walkthrough: Create a Custom Label

Watch this video for a detailed walkthrough of the Label Builder, including how to group fields and set global defaults.

Step 1: Access Label Settings

To manage your templates, head to your workspace settings:

  1. Open Settings: Click the Settings icon on the bottom left panel.

  2. Select Labels: Under the Templates section, click the Labels tab.

  3. Identify Defaults: Look for the check mark next to a label name. This indicates the global default currently used for Manual Inventory, Production, or Receiving.

Step 2: Create a New Label:

  1. Click +Add Label

  2. Enter a Name.

  3. Select the Label type (e.g., Receiving).

Once selected, the preview loads with the default fields for that label type.

Step 3: Configure Layout Settings

At the top of the builder, configure the overall layout:

  • Label size – Set your printer format (e.g., 2x8). The preview updates automatically.

  • Alignment – Choose Left or Center alignment.

  • Vertical spacing – Select Top aligned or Vertically distributed.

  • Set as default – Enable this option to make the label the default for its type.

Step 4: Customize Label Fields

The right panel controls individual fields.

  1. Reorder Fields: Drag and drop fields to change their position in the label.

  2. Show or Hide Fields: Toggle fields on or off as needed.

  3. Adjust Text Size: Select a field and enter a custom value in the Text size box to control font size.

  4. Enable High Contrast: For the Item field, enable High contrast to emphasize the product name.

  5. Group Fields Horizontally: Enable Horizontal alignment to place multiple fields on the same line.

    To separate grouped fields:

  • Disable Horizontal alignment for one field in the group.

  • This breaks the grouping and allows better control over layout spacing.

Fields without horizontal alignment between two grouped sections act as layout dividers.

  1. Barcodes and Custom Fields:

    1. Fields with a tag icon represent custom fields.

    2. Enable the Barcode option on any field to make it scannable.

    3. Use the Title button to show or hide the field Title.

Step 5: Save the Label

Click Create Label.

If marked as default, the label will display a check mark in the Labels list.

Step 6: Override Labels for Specific Items

Items use the global default label unless overridden.

To assign a different label to a specific item:

  1. Go to Items.

  2. Open the item’s detail page.

Depending on item type:

  • Inventory Settings – Change the Manual Inventory label.

  • Production Settings – Change the Production label (for Make/Sell items).

  • Purchasing Settings – Change the Receiving label (for Buy items).

Click Update item to save changes.

The selected label will now apply only to that item.

Printing Labels

Labels are printed from their respective workflows:

  • Manual Inventory → Inventory details screen

  • Receiving → Receiving workflow

  • Production → Final Work Order

  • Sales → Sales Order

Custom labels allow you to standardize layout at the workspace level while maintaining flexibility for specific items.

This ensures consistency across workflows while supporting operational requirements.
