Yield Loss Display: Track Manufacturing Efficiency in Real-Time

How to use Digit's Yield Loss Display to track production efficiency in real time, minimize material waste, and boost your bottom line.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Need to track production efficiency in real time? Our new Yield Loss Display feature is here to help! This powerful tool shows you the percentage of your expected output quantity on Manufacturing Orders and Work Orders, giving you a clear view of your production yield. You can easily enable or disable this feature for any item, putting you in complete control of your manufacturing analytics.

This article will show you how to enable this feature, where to find the data, and how it can help your business.

What is Yield Loss?

In manufacturing, yield loss is the difference between the expected output of a production run and the actual quantity produced. It's usually expressed as a percentage. It can be caused by many factors, like material waste, human error, or machine downtime. Monitoring yield loss is a crucial way to manage costs and improve efficiency.

The Yield Loss Display feature calculates your yield as a percentage in real time. The formula is:

Yield = (Target Quantity/Output Quantity)×100

With this feature enabled, you can monitor a production run's progress in a new way. The yield percentage is displayed alongside the progress bar, giving you a comprehensive view of your production line.

How to Enable and View Yield Loss Information

To enable the Yield Loss Display, you must first create a Make type item. This feature is not available for Buy or Sell items.

0:02 Let's quickly take a look at the new yield loss display feature in Digit. It's a simple, powerful way to track the percentage of your expected output on any production run, helping you monitor, efficiency, and spot problems fast.

0:32 And just above the bomb and wrapping steps, you'll see there's now a show yield percentage option that you can toggle on.

0:40 Once we've toggled this on, even for past manufacturing orders, we'll now be able to see yield percentage in the manufacturing orders table view.

0:51 Here I've already narrowed down the view on this table to show a single item type so we can take a look at the yield percentage.

0:59 Over here in this column yield percentage will be able to see across all of the production runs what the yield percentage has been.

1:07 If we click into one of these manufacturing orders we can take a look in more detail. In here you'll also be able to see that same yield percentage up here just under the progress bar for the manufacturing order as a whole.

1:22 Also if you scroll down to the work orders table, you can see that there's now a yield percentage tracking there as well.

1:31 So not only can you see the yield percentage for the entire manufacturing order, but you can also see it on a per work order basis so that you can see exactly where yield percentage is being affected most.

1:46 Let's go ahead and jump into the last work order so that you can also see that the yield percentage updates live.

1:54 Here for the work order you can also see the yield percentage up here and let's go ahead and continue producing the rest of this manufacturing order doing another batch.

2:07 So now both the progress bar and the yield percentage update live as we go and we can complete this work order and let's imagine that we get up to 475 and then we're going to complete our work order.

2:26 So for this final work order we've got a yield percentage of 95 and if we click back out to the parent manufacturing order we can see now that the total is 95 as well and And again, in the work orders table, you can take a look and see the step by step change in yield percentage.

2:44 If you do decide that you no longer want to see the yield percentage or any given item, you can return to the detail view, go back, and toggle off the show yield percentage.

2:55 As soon as you do, that information will be removed from the UI, giving you the clean experience that you prefer.

3:01 So, that is the yield-boss display function where you can get a real-time percentage-based view of how your production runs are performing to help you reduce waste, improve future planning, and keep your production on track.

3:16 Thanks so much.
