Creating a Quote and converting it to a Sales Order

Quotes allow your team to propose pricing and terms to a customer before committing to an order. Once a quote is accepted, it can be converted into a sales order for fulfillment. This guide shows how to create a quote and convert it into a sales order.

Step 1: Create a quote

  1. Go to Quotes from the Sales & finance section in the sidebar.

  2. Click Create quote.

Select customer and terms

  1. Choose a Customer.

  2. Select the Payment terms.

Optional: Apply a specific Price list if applicable, and modify the Quote date or Expiration date.

Add items

  1. Select the items to include in the quote.

  2. Review quantities and pricing.

Add notes or tags (optional)

  • Customer notes – Visible to the customer.

  • Internal notes – For internal coordination.

  • Tags – Help organize and filter quotes.

Create the quote

Click Create quote to save the record.


A confirmation message appears once the quote is created.

Step 2: Convert the quote to a sales order

Once the customer accepts the quote, convert it into a Sales order.

  1. Open the quote from the Quotes list.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Convert to sales order.

Digit creates a new Sales order using the information from the quote.

Step 3: Access the sales order

After converting the quote, a confirmation message appears indicating the Sales order was created. There are two ways to access the Sales order.

Option 1: From the quote modal

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

  2. Select View sales order. This opens the Sales order directly.

Option 2: From the sales orders page

  1. Go to Sales orders from the sidebar.

  2. Locate the newly created order at the top of the list.

Converting a quote to a Sales order preserves the customer details, pricing, and items, allowing your team to move directly into fulfillment without re-entering information.
